HAPPY NEW YEARS!!

We spent New Years Eve with some old friends and some new ones. There might be more photos to come of the scavenger hunt we were sent on. It tooks us all over the place and it was a blast cramming into little phone booths and bathtubs.

REFLECTION:
Throughout the weekend I had time to reflect on the things this year that I want to concentrate on. To be honest with you, the idea of committing to go the gym more often or eat more fish or save more money just did not seem a realistic goal for New Years resolution. (which I think is pointless anyway, New Years resolutions that is) But what is not pointless is having a time of reflection on your life, and what better time than at the start of a new year. Focusing your attention and your mind to what you want to see yourself remember throughout the year to come. What kept coming back to my mind was the ever-present need and desire to focus my eyes to Christ! And making my relationship with Him and relationships in general - my 1st priority. To not settle for taking the safe road but taking the more challenging path, pushing myself to new heights. Standing up for what I believe in and being honest with people NOT just nice, with that fake happy face – that I loath. So as I settle in to my cup of coffee and begin a new week of work, I ponder, what will make this year different. What happens to me...or what I make happen?

Hi Jen,
I'm thrilled to see younger people who care about making a difference in our world beyond themselves. Bravo. I see by your reflections that Christ is your center of focus this year. One very effective way to focus on Christ is to put your attention each waking moment(by that I mean each conscious moment) on an attitude He carries, and focus your attention on that attitude. A very simple attitude, I like, is Praise. If you could use a simple statement of truth such as: "Praise God," or what ever Word for God you like, you would always be in a worshipful state or a state of appreciation. The trick is to catch the "monkey mind" inside your head focusing on the millions of thoughts you have each moment and gently refocusing on the Christ attitude instead. It would be praying without ceasing and very benificial to you and the world around you. This is a practice I use in my life and it is really useful in assisting our world from the inside out, which is where all real change occurs. Good luck, Dear One, Many Blessings to you in the new year.
