Amelie | 1 Month Update

I can't believe it has already been 1 month since our baby Amelie came into the world. She is our little sunshine to be sure.
Amelie - 1 month old
I call Amelie y girly girl. She makes all kids of little coos and squawks. I could just eat her up. Now weighting 8lb 11oz she can gained over 2 pounds and you can tell. That little skinny face on the birth announcement (taken at just 1 day old) now can boast of a double chin. Summer outfits are just so bright and cheerful. I (must admit) love girly clothes.

The summer has been a wonderful time to have a baby. I love the time we spend together out in the sunshine and with the boys in the pool. The weather has been so mild and lovely. My heart is so full and overjoyed with love for my family and for little Amee.

Summer Photo Update

We needed a first family photo with Amelie. Turned out ok for using the timer. (Smile)
I really want to get some professional pictures taken in the fall when Amelie is a little bigger.
Let me know if you know anyone really good with kids.

This summer is flying by. Between having family in town, lots of friends stopping by, hosting a pop in shower for Amelie, having a garage sale and taking the engine out of our mini cooper - life has been busy. Thankfully the next few weekends will be spent having some good family fun, outside the house ("thank you!" says mom)
These are some shots from Amelie's Baby and Bubbly party, taken when she was 2 1/2 weeks old.

Amelie at 3 weeks old in the darling little "sea bound" outfit that my colleague Tanya gave us. Amelie makes the funniest surprised faces like in the top right hand corner and I can't tell why. She just opens her eyes really wide and purses her lips like she is surprised.
Thankfully we have still made lots of time to enjoy our precious little bundle of joy. Amelie is such a easy baby (so far). She is awake a little more each day and just like Jack has a personal fussy time in the evening but it is so cute. She is just expressing herself and learning how to fall asleep. Newborns are so precious but I can tell that stage will be over very soon. Ahhh..stay a little baby!!!
Jack is almost 18 months. Can't believe how big he is getting. I know everyone says that but since Amelie joined us he seriously has gone through a growth spirt. He is saying lots of little words like caaar (car), ca ca (cracker), duice (juice), mavi (movie) and daaggy (doggy). He also responds for many things like when you say let's go outside, he runs and gets his shoes. When he hears the motorcycle or the garage door he opens the door to the garage. I keep saying to Mike, our kid is wicked smart...but it is just cool to seeing him learning so many new things.
Jack is a blankie boy. He does the cutest like thing when he is tired. He goes upstairs and tries to get his blankie out of his crib and when he can't get it all the way out he kneels down holding it to suck his thumb (since he doesn't suck his thumb WITHOUT his blankie in hand) Sweet stuff...had to get a photo.
When we catch him he looks up and laughs.
Fun at the duck park.
Jack loves to play and can't wait to have a playmate at his house. He often peeks into Amelie's crib when she is making noise and talks back to her as if to say "yeah, I hear you, come and play with me". We are going to the duck park and this play park when we can. And Jack loves to watch the other kids and discover how to climb and slide. Today he said "up" and "down" when he was going up the stairs and down the slide. So cool.

Well...Enjoy the rest of the summer!

My Mini...Uverhauled?

Engine - extracted! What a relief.
After 3 long days and nights of work...the mini's engine is out and ready for a major overhaul.
My classic mini is getting overhauled..after 9 months of sitting in the garage. Now this is no small task despite how small the mini is. Very few mechanics in Oregon work on these cars. We have had to wait until one was available and Mike decided to take the whole engine out himself. Mike committed his whole weekend to getting the engine out and got some help from good old Chris (who had to smoke his cigar while precariously laying under the lifting car). I am telling you this project turned out to be huge. Since the vehicle that has inspired so many adventures and our blog design is laid up I thought I would post it. We hope it will be fixed by the fall.
