Jackson's 1 Month Birthday

Happy 1 month Birthday Jackson! It was 1 month today that you were born and we were taking you home from the hospital. Your dad and I were sitting in bed last night remembering the late night and early morning before you were born and I remembered something. I had planned to make you a special birthday cake while awaiting the right moment to go to the hospital. But you had other plans and you came so fast that there was not time. So, in memory of the day you were born I baked a little mini cupcake. I've decided to eat yours for you since you can't enjoy it yet. :) We're so glad you decided to make February 25th your special day.

Jackson and I have gotten out a few times despite the cold weather to enjoy our stroller. We plan to have lots more time with it once the weather gets a little warmer. But last Saturday, Mike was out in the garage working with the sun on his back and decided that Jackson needed to join him. So he put him in his snugly blanket with his belly in the sun so he could take in 5 minutes of vitamin D. Don't worry anyone, he was warm!

I've been really enjoying the chance to borrow my mom's professional digital camera. I am saving up for one of my own. Here are some recent photos I've taken for fun of my little Bear. Enjoy!

Jackson is such a happy baby. He has had his moments over this past week and I've heard he might have a fussy stage here soon. But for now he is starting to recognize our facing and this was a rare but special moment when I caught him smiling. He and I have had so much fun getting to know each other this past month and I've loved my time at home with him. He now can lift his head and hold it up for quiet a long time which really shows how strong little babies are.

Time with Gran

Our week was filled with many enjoyable moments with Gran. She flew in from Oklahoma to spend the week with Jackson and it was love at first sight. Mike took the week off unexpectedly and we just had lots of great hang out time and of course...great FOOD!

We finally took our 1st family photo. Yahh!

Jackson is such a loved baby! Everyone is always holding him.

2 week Dr Appointments

Our Doctor's appointments went well on Friday. Jackson has regained his birth weight and then some and now weights 7lb 2oz and is 20 1/2 inches long. It was really beautiful on Friday so we stepped out onto the sky way patio and snapped a few photos from OHSU. Love the view from that place!

Jackson's Gran, Jennifer is here from Oklahoma this week so we will have lots of fun pictures to post soon.

Have a great week my dear blog reading friends. :)

Fun photo of the peanut with dad.

Mama with her baby bear

When Auntie Megs was over today we got out into the sunshine and she took some pictures (finally) of mom with little Jackson. The flower are blooming in our front yard and I believe that spring is right around the corner. Yeah! Enjoying every moment together these days. Special memories being made.

2 Week Old

Hard to believe it has been 2 weeks since Jackson was born. He is already awake for several hours a day although he is often in a milk coma. This little outfit was a gift from Uncle Matt (who Jackson was given his middle name "Matthew" after). Matt is a pilot and Jackson loves the outfit.
In the past 2 weeks Jackson has learned to:
*nurse - like a champ
* eat every 3 hours during the day and every 4 hours at night (soon to be 8 hours at night, wink wink)
* pee on the wall while being changed
*snuggle
* pose for the camera
* smile (while passing gas)
* root (most of the time when hurgry but sometime just because he smells mom)
We love our little Jackson Bear and can't wait to watch him to discover new things!

Bitter Sweet Day

It has been a bitter sweet day. My grandfather passed away early this morning. It was an anticipated thing but not without a overflow of emotions. He was my last living grandparent and the one I was the closest to. I thank God his is home in Heaven today.
Today, Jackson and I spent the day listing to the hail and watching the snow fall. He is so full of personality already. I have many names for him including:
Little lip purser (he often purses his lips at me)
Mr. milk coma man ( after feeding he falls into a milk coma)
Baby bear
Little peanut
and when he is being fussy I say, no Mr. Fussy.
I will try to capture some of these faces and post them. They are priceless.

This is the lip pursuing face (kind of)

This is not a Jackson face, Mike just did his hair after a bath and he happed to make the tough biker, back off face. :)
Sweet time with dad tonight.

Autie Megs has been visiting us too.

Sleep Deprived...dramatic day with Bear.

I love this little top since it is completely telling of my life this past week. This little bear loves to eat, every 2-3 hours!!! Here are some photos of his sleep deprived parents to prove it.

I wanted to share my drama from the day since it feels like we have had several days like this already that I've not shared about. Little Jackson got his weewee circumcised on Tuesday...drama enough for mom, right? No, we had to go back in today after a scare with the weewee. It had been healing wrongly and mama had to call the Dr to get some advice. The nurse gave the the ok to do some very minor surgery myself to unplug the area that was healing wrongly. I tried...thankfully my sister was present becaues I was crying, praying and truely miserable over the whole thing. Finally the nurse called back and said the my Dr could see me if I could come in on the double. She had 2 other patients who where in labor and she had about a 45 minutes until she would be gone. We dressed little Bear and got the heck down there. They re-clarified the incision and showed me how to continue to clean it, every changing. Man...I love having a boy but in this moment I was wishing I didn't have to deal with his weewee. Everything turned out ok but only thanks to the grace of God. This boy had me in knots worrying about the future appearence of his weewee. :) Here is a photo of my cutie from today!

Little Animal Photos

Just wanted to share some photos of little Jackson "Bear" from the past few days. He is a little love bug who loves to snuggle, koo and cue that he wants to eat.

Favorite moments with him include early morning feedings, awake time in the late morning and snuggling with daddy in the evenings. He sleeps a lot but is still so fun to watch even when he sleeps.

I have been on such a "coming into motherhood" high that I have really slacked on naps and rest myself. So, I am going to start on my own schedule soon and GET SOME SLEEP. Thanks for all the comments and support via the blog and facebook. I have been so blessed by all the cyber love. We are ready for visitors so feel free to call if you want to come meet our little Bear.

For the record, Jackson is not smiling yet. These are just little "gas" smiles that I happened to catch on camera.

Jackson LOVES his daddy's voice, breath and barks. Mike will do this little barking noise when Jackson starts to fuss or just breath in his face and he calms right down. He has the magic touch! I love watching him work his papa magic.
