HAPPY EASTER!

Easter is approaching. You should be surprised.

I know there’s only a small chance that the holiday will actually sneak up on you and that you will wake up Easter morning unaware. But if it did happen, it would be appropriate. One feature of the first Easter is that it surprised absolutely everyone!
No one expected Jesus’ resurrection. The Bible tells of several people going to his tomb that first Easter morning, but not even his closest disciples thought they might find Jesus alive there. This in spite of the fact that they should have known.
They had personally witnessed the resurrection of at least three people, None of that seemed to matter.

This shows that the resurrection was so unimaginable that it was normal for even the closest followers of Jesus to have doubts or to be left dumbfounded.

Maybe this is why Easter hasn’t caught on as a huge cultural celebration quite like Christmas has. The point of Christmas is the human birth of God’s Son, and birth is a wonder we’re familiar with. Christmas celebrates God embracing what is commonplace. But Easter celebrates a person attaining the unthinkable! If we believe the resurrection, it must change everything we accept about what is possible. And so it must completely change how we live.

I should be stunned to my core that Jesus is alive today! I should be shocked when I read that God’s resurrection power extends to me: “Even though we were dead because of our sins, he gave us life when he raised Christ from the dead” (Ephesians 2:5). Instead, words like these have become familiar. They’ve lost their punch. They seldom change me.

So Easter is approaching, and this year all I want is to be surprised.

SPRING IS HERE...AND SO IS BABY MEGHAN

Our little new niece Megan, Mike's twin brother Matt and wife's Christi's second child. Love to see the photos even though we are far away. Little Madison is going to be a good big sister.

CANOPY & CENOTE ADVENTURES

We met some new friends at our hotel, Taylor and Katie! Great couple from Canada. We showed them a few of our favorite resturants and hanging out.













11 zip lines and 1 mile later we were experienced canopy explores.
We took a short trip out into the Mexican jungle to experience the first of many cenotes. As you can see it was a blast. Now back to my pina colada. Cheers!

DIVING!!

I finished my dive certification yesterday. WhooRaa!! Trust me it was a huge feat for me. Lots of challenges and unforgettable stories that these photos just don't show. For example my sea sickness, fear of the mask retrieval skill test, etc. etc. But what is life, if not full of a few challenges that end with such rewarding memories as these. And now I can dive completely on my own if I wanted to. Not that I would want to? ENJOY

Hello from Me-hee-ko!
It is just our first full day the Playa Del Carman and already we are having a fabulous time. A few quick pictures of our hotel and travels so far.

HORSE BRASS

Saturday night we went to the Horse Brass on Belmont to play darts, a favorite tradition with our friends Allen and Eyrn. Ryan and Shannon were down from Seattle and made a great addition to our little gathering. You won't see Allen in the photo because he was a big pooper and went to bed early.

So I thought I would show another photo of him just to let you know what he looked like last night. I take every chance I can to cheese the guy who makes it his mission in life to make fun of me.

FROM MY DESK TO YOURS

Morning avid bloggers and occasional Jacob's blog visitors. Just sitting here with my morning coffee at my desk looking out over a rainy, cloudy, cold Portland skyline and thinking about life. Here is my thought of the day.

The human PURPOSE when viewed unencumbered by the delusions in which we live in IS CAPTIVATING. We have an exclusive opportunity TODAY to make an IMPACT on the world around us. And if we can touch, change or bless just one person today, we should be AMAZED by the ONE who gave us the strength and will to do it.
