2004
*This is the year I met Mike.*Major backpacking trip to Europe
*Mike and I eloped.
*Cruse to the Bahamas
This is my first photo of Mike the weekend we met. Here is the funny crew at that retreat weekend. Honestly, I must say that I don't know exactly what it was about Mike but he was new to town and really quiet shy. We met when he picked me up to drive to the retreat. He has just moved to Portland not more than 1 week before from Flordia via Costa Rica after completing his Master's degree and taking some time off to study spanish. He moved for a job at Bank of America - to Portland or all places, having never been before.
We dated for about 6 months before getting married. Crazy!
In the summer of 2004, I took off for 3 weeks in Europe for a dear friends wedding in Rottenberg Germany. Mike and I had been dating since April and it was torture to leave him. I traveled ALONE from Amsterdam through Brugge in Belgium. Then to Germany for the wedding where I met up with lots of friends from college.
Before the wedding, overlooking the charming town of Rothenberg, Germany. I had been to this town before in 2001 after teaching English in a summer Germany camp but this trip was different, special.

After the fairy tale wedding I met up with my dearest friend Megan (who I studied and traveled with while living in London)
We traveled down to Austria to check out Salzburg and as imagined, it was magical.
The onto Halstad, a little village on Lake Como.
Then to Prague.
And we ended our trip in Budapest where I visit my friend Pam from Biola who was living there as a teacher and we traveled around the city.
Engaged!
When I returned from my Europe backpacking trip, Mike popped the question. He totally took me by surprise. My sister helped plan and was there hidding out in the rose garden to take photos. She capture this good one shortly after I said, Yes!
We eloped on October 8th to Youngberg Hills Vineyard a hilltop wedding venue in Dundee, Oregon. It was amazing to say our unprepared vows in the presence of only a few friends and our pastor Jeremy.
We few months after we eloped we took a fun cruise to the Bahamas.
2005
*In June we had a formal wedding celebration on my parents beautiful property.
*It was around that time that I moved from The Idea Agency (my first job) to Aquent where I really got started in recruiting. I worked there for 3 years doing talent management for design and digital talent career coaching.

In the fall of 2005 we took a cruise to the western size of Mexico. This shot was taken in Cabo.

* In October for our 3 year anniversary, Mike and I went to Spain. We were on the hunt for great wine and along the way we say amazing cities like Madrid, Barcelona, Seville, Nerja, Granada, Briones and Segovia.
* We also were 1st time home owners.
My family at my sister Megan's wedding.
We celebrating my 25th birthday on the top of our hotel overlooking for medieval city of Segovia in Spain.

At Sandeman distillery near Portugal. Our trip to Spain was character building for both of us and our relationship. As anyone who has traveled aboard "Rick Steves style" there were lots of lost moments and language barriers. But despite the odds, we did find the great wine we came for an have a wonderful memorable time.
In 2006 we bought our Beaverton house! We starting spending a lot of time doing home improvements and making it our OWN.

*Jen turns 30
* We vacation in the US Virgin Islands

I love having a son! He is my pride and joy and a big JOB. Every stage is new with him and it keeps getting better to me his mommy.
Amelie is my angel. I am so in love with her. When she turned one this year I would hardly believe it. It went so fast. My kids are the highlight and my purpose in life now and I am so blessed to be 30 and already have both of them living life with me.
We celebrating (kind of) my birthday with a trip to St Thomas and St John with Matt and Christi. It was a really nice trip to get away for 10 whole days and relax without the motherly duties or work to do.
Absolutely God's gift to me.
And of course, some great diving. At 30 I have now logged over 40 dives!
My actual birthday was simple and I got to be a kid with my 13 going on 30 cake and pinata filled with mini bottles of tequila. Thanks Chris!
And to end my 20's - the move to Houston. A new season awaits which I am sure we will be different but just as full as the last decade. Whew, what a post. As I reflect I give glory to God for the rich and full life he has given me. I celebrate his many blessings in my life. My husband, my children and the many great travels and life experiences he has given me, already.
Maybe you knew all this about me already, maybe you learned something. Hope you enjoyed!
