My 26 week update can finally include some photos. Yeah! I had my 6 ½ month Dr. appointment today. I saw a new Dr. that I was not too pleased with (who was an old man and reminded me of my Dr from growing up). I think I prefer a women Dr for these things. I continue to grow on target although I seemed to put on a few extra pounds (thanks to the holiday I think) going to scale back a bit. This month I start having appointments every 2 weeks so I will post updates more often.
Here is better shot to the size on tummy in contrast.
My baby furniture is together. We have a theme for the baby room. Mike wants to go with a jungle/animal motif. I love the idea of the music from Jungle Book and Lion King playing while our baby going to sleep. I don’t know if you can nurture your kids to love animals but if you can we are going to. I love the black furniture in contrast to the bright colors that are soon to come.
Most common cravings so far have included: molasses cookies, red meat especially a good hamburger but hold the fries, apples and apple juice although it gives me wicked gas and lots of dairy including, ice crème, milk, eggnog and yogurt.
I am starting to have trouble sleeping. I don’t feel that big until I see my picture and then I think…yikes…there’s the belly girl. I fall asleep no problem but then wake up at 4am and toss until I get up. Ahhh! However, I am only getting up to pee twice a night which is a nice chance from 4-5 times.
Mike’s nickname for me is “bumpy”.
I went to a breathing class today where the instructor had me prop one leg up on the table, extended, and then roll my tongue while inhaling then stretch my tongue to the back of my throat while exhaling. Strange? I guess it helps you relax while in labor, I think because it takes so much thought to do all of that while in pain. ?? I am going to prenatal yoga and swimming classes from now on. All other classes are becoming too difficult to augment so that I can keep off my belly. I am compelled to stay in the best shape I can but whew…it is hard work.
I would love any suggestions on birthing classes or books people have found helpful (especially when attempting a nature birth).
Cheerio for now…

i think you look sooo cute! and i love the furniture for the room:) i can't believe you are 26 weeks! love ya.
Hi Jen! You look adorable! I can't wait to see the nursery after you've decorated and added paint. So cute. For what it's worth, when I have a baby, I'm hoping to do hypnobirthing. Google it and find a center/classes near you. I can't remember what site I went to, but it listed all the birthing centers in the area and local, certified midwives. Most hospitals have a birthing center w/ midwife now too. Good luck with that! I think you can do it if you take out the option of meds.
You look amazing! Thanks for the updates!
Oh my gosh, you are just so cute. Make sure you believe that people are telling the truth when they say that, even if you don't feel that way. Hey, if your mom needs any help painting, I'm game! Remember, that's my job...it's what I do! And I'm so glad you found my blog...how does one spread the word? I thought I'd tried everything!
Hey, Jen,
One of my friends from Florida was very big on the Bradley method of childbirth. There is a book written by Dr. Bradley that she found very helpful.
One thing to keep in mind, though: every labor and delivery is different. The best advice I would give is keep your options open because in the end you want to have a healthy baby and the best way to do that is for you not to be stressed out. :) I had a natural birth with Aubrey (meaning no meds/epidural)...but in the end all that mattered is that we had a healthy baby girl. It's hard work but you can do it! :) You do look great, too. I'm the same weeks as you are and I don't look near as cute as you. :)
I'm so excited! I had both my girls naturally, with no drugs, and never tore or ripped. I would love to talk to you more about it. I did something along the Bradley method. Are you taking a class from a doula or midwife? Let me know. Email me or call! It is sooooo worth it! And God gives you the strength to get through the tough parts. I memorized scripture to focus on in that last hour or so of transition time to pushing. Anyways....let me know!
Jen,
I took classes on the Bradley method and successfully had an entirely natural, drug-free delivery thanks in large part to Bradley. I would highly recommend taking the classes. The book is great, but I found it more practical to take the class. It's really important for your hubby to take the classes because when you are in labor, you forget what you learned and what your plan was so you will need to rely on him. The classes were probably more beneficial for my hubby than me, honestly. I also recommend writing out a birth plan for your nurses and drs. to follow if you want to do a natural birth. That way everyone knows what you want when you aren't able to explain or articulate it. You can do it naturally! It can be done! A quote I love is "The secret about childbirth,is not that it is painful, but that women are strong". Be strong and go natural if that's what your heart desires. It is sooo beyond worth it and it will be the greatest accomplishment of your life.
